EPHEMERAL MUSEUM FOR RECONCILIATION

We gathered an ephemeral community and built a participatory museum that gives visibility to local cultural stories and practices; reconnecting and empowering participants around their cultural heritage, with a special focus on children and young people, giving them a leading role in its transmission.

The project offers a significant contribution in the fields of conflict resolution, peace-making, intangible heritage, and local cultural practices, as bases for the transformation and reconciliation of communities affected by the conflict. Aligned to this, the initiative fosters processes of individual and collective memory-building in relation to the territory, history, local cultural practices, and intangible heritage.

The methodology consisted of workshops to provide tools to children, youngsters, and adults to reflect and preserve their cultural heritage. Each of these processes has a significant impact at a therapeutic and social level in regards to the transformation of traumatic experiences of conflict and the reconstruction of a social fabric of trust.
